ABSTRACT
The pelvis is a stable ring of bones and ligaments that encloses the pelvic viscera (Figure 9.1a,b,c,d). The pelvis is formed by the paired innominate bones and the sacrum. The innominate consists of the ilium, ischium, and pubis. The sacrum is a wedge-shaped bone formed from the fusion of the five sacral vertebrae.
