ABSTRACT

Uncontrolled asthma is a leading cause of morbidity in children worldwide, incurring high socio-economic costs (EPR-3 2007, GINA 2002). Despite the development of new asthma medications, asthma control in children remains poor in the 21st century. This chapter focuses on the goals of care in pediatric asthma and strategies to achieve asthma control. Treatment of acute symptoms and exacerbations will also be briefl y discussed.
