ABSTRACT

Rheumatoid arthritis: is a chronic, systemic infl ammatory disorder that may affect many tissues and organs, but principally attacks synovial joints. The process produces an infl ammatory response of the synovium (synovitis) secondary to hyperplasia of synovial cells, excess synovial fl uid, and the development of pannus in the synovium. Synovial joints: also known as a diarthrosis, is the most common and most movable type of joint in the body of a mammal. C reactive protein (CRP): is a protein synthetized by the liver after an infl ammatory stimulus and though is used mainly as a marker of infl ammation. DMARDs: is a category of otherwise unrelated drugs defi ned by their use in rheumatic disorders to slow down disease progression. This term is often used in contrast to non-steroidal anti-infl ammatory drug, which refers to agents that treat the infl ammation but not the underlying cause.
