ABSTRACT
MIBG is chemically stable inside sympathetic neurons. in-layer chromatographic analysis of tissue extracts of rat hearts excised 30min aer injection of [123I]MIBG demonstrated that 100% of the radioactivity was associated with intact parent MIBG (Pissarek et al. 2002). is indicates that MIBG is resistant to metabolism by neuronal enzymes such as mitochondria-bound MAO and dopamine-β-hydroxylase inside storage vesicles.
