ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The paper presents some considerations on how to improve the dialog between Public Administration and citizens based on the research project “Internet and Interactivity for Public Participation” (2i2p project) coordinated by PRODEB-Data Processing Company of Bahia State-and conducted in partnership with Federal University of Bahia. The project called for reflection and innovation in public websites design to convey spatial information and encourage interaction between citizens and Public Administration. The 2i2p project used social media as experimentation for different purposes. An experimental site was implemented iteratively, using Google Maps APIs. Interface evolved to increase the level of user interaction with geographic information. The final product was a guide that offers recommendations for Public Administration Websites. It works towards greater transparency, participation and collaboration for innovation in Public Administration, broadening the perspective of e-Government to incorporate the citizen in the policies definitions for the territory.
