ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews data hiding techniques for text and binary images and examines techniques for both images and video, followed by a brief review on techniques for digital fingerprinting. It focuses on the image forgery detection techniques. Comprehensive reviews of the watermarking and data hiding techniques for multimedia can be found in. The original multimedia source or cover data available for the watermark detection or verification will improve the performance of the detector. Watermarking and data hiding have many application areas, for example, broadcast monitoring, ownership identification, transaction tracking, copy control, fingerprinting, authentication, and annotation. Data hiding on binary images can be classified as fragile/semifragile and robust depending on different applications. Embedding watermark into images unavoidably introduces artifacts and distortions to the host images, which may raise serious concerns in applications such as medical imaging, military imaging, and law enforcement.
