ABSTRACT
Due to the magnetic properties of SPIO particles, a magnetic fi eld can be used to direct the localization of magnetically labeled cells in a targeted area. For example, the cells can be taken up from the blood stream using a ferromagnetic stent targeted to a damaged artery, or cells administered into the cerebrospinal fl uid can be directed into a SCI with the use of an external magnet placed or implanted above the injury site.
