ABSTRACT

The PPy-coated VACNF MBA provides a viable alternative to traditional, commercially available metal MEAs by adding a 3D brush-like nanostructure which is more compatible to the natural extracellular matrix in tissues and provides many desired new properties. Herein, we summarize our research efforts in exploring these novel electrode materials for NEI applications over the past six years. It covers device fabrication, surface modifi cation, materials and electrochemical characterization, biocompatibility study with PC12 cell culture and electrical stimulation with rat hippocampal brain slices.
