ABSTRACT
Fuels derived from the glycerides contained in vegetable oils or animal fats are capable of substituting for petroleum-derived distillates. Renewable distillate fuels have historically been produced with edible vegetable oils such as soybean oil, cottonseed oil, or rapeseed (canola) oil. However, the potential for growing jatropha and algae on marginal land has led to increasing interest in using their respective plant oils as biofuel feedstock.
