ABSTRACT

Most discussions about IT and software measurements are not or only slightly integrated into other business measurement topics, like measuring corporate, strategy, or investment success. This may be the case because measuring IT as a cost center usually fits the perspective of most organizations. Business value is created elsewhere in their value chain, and therefore, more resources are spent for measurements within those value chain links. From an IT point of view, this situation is not satisfactory, as it makes it even more difficult to communicate the business value contributed by IT or software, beyond the financial perspective.
