ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study is to verify the relationship between work ability and exercise habits among Japanese manufacturing industry workers. The study design was a cross-sectional questionnaire survey. Work ability was assessed by the Work Ability Index (WAI), and exercise habit was obtained by questionnaire including exercise intensity and frequency. The total number of participants was 5,155. Of this total, we analyzed the data of 3,754 participants who had valid responses of WAI and exercise habits. The result of the generalized linear model (GLM) which predicts WAI score by exercise intensity and frequency, showed that the effect of exercise intensity was significant. Also GLM analysis was done in each age group. The result implied that the effect of the combination between intensity and frequency in daily exercise varies depending on age group.
