ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Visual search tasks carried out in a state of alertness with multiple sources might be affected by display elements. This study investigates the effect of screen dimension and icon size, and aims to contribute towards task performance for the use of the interface in the geographical intelligence systems. Thirty-six participants carried out a visual search task using a mock geographical intelligence system. The results showed that screen dimension and icon size had a significant effect on task performance and cognition load. The findings of this study can help designers to develop more efficient and comfortable interfaces to fit user needs, and design recommendations are given.
