ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Three GUI design usability evaluation methods are introduced in this paper. They are GUI design checklist, SUM (Simple Usability Evaluation Method) and usability task analysis. After their characteristics are explained, the three GUI designs were evaluated using them as examples. The results suggest the following. The GUI checklist is a very convenient method and can also be used as the minimum requirements to construct the GUI design. The SUM can grasp the characteristics of the GUI design and the structure of problems easily. On the other hand the usability task analysis can evaluate GUI designs quantitatively and acquire new user requirements with which to modify the bad points of usability.
