ABSTRACT

Since the ‡rst edition of this work (in 1998), many advances have been made in the subjects and techniques pertinent to investigating cases of aircra— sabotage by improvised explosive devices (IEDs).* In this edition, emphasis is on scenarios involving the destruction of large commercial passenger aircra— over remote regions and deep-water areas such as oceans. International protocols, practical search and survey techniques, and some macroscopic† forms of post-blast forensic evidence will be discussed. ›e reader is referred to Chapter 8 for a description of other material evidence that includes microscopic forms.
