ABSTRACT

The scratch testing is one of the most useful techniques for the evaluation of adhesion of thin films to substrates and has a long history [1-5]. The critical load values for detachment obtained by this method are usually expressed in terms of N(Newton) and are valuable in a practical assessment of adhesion but are less valuable in scientific research because of the complexity of the factors influencing them. More physical quantities such as adhesion energy are required for the discussion based on the scientific research.
