ABSTRACT

In this previous work, density variations due to concentration spatial variations were neglected in Golfier et al. (2002) model as the liquid phase species are only considered to be a tracer.

1 INTRODUCTION

Dissolution of porous media or solids is widely concerned in many industrial fields, e.g., acid injection into petroleum reservoirs, ablation of composite layers in rocket nozzles, dissolution of rocks caused by underground water etc. In the latter rock dissolutions create underground cavities with different shapes and sizes, which induces a potential risk of collapse. In most applications, modeling such liquid/solid dissolution problems is of paramount importance.
