ABSTRACT
To combat this epidemic of obesity, considerable e¬ort and expense has been put forth in developing drugs that facilitate a reduction in body weight. Currently, only the lipase inhibitor orlistat (XenicalⓇ) is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for long-term body weight reduction [5]. However, it is only modestly e¬ective and has a number of gastrointestinal side e¬ects.
