ABSTRACT

The lifelong devotion of Professor Masaru Minami to neuroscientific research and pharmacology has had an important impact on basic and clinical research. Professor Masaru Minami (Dean of Health Sciences, University of Hokkaido, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences; Emeritus member of Japanese Pharmacological Society) is one of the leading pharmacologists in Japan. After receiving his degree from Hokkaido University School of Medicine in 1964, Professor Minami continued his study of pharmacology and cardiovascular medicine under the auspices of Professor Tsuneyoshi Tanabe and Hisakazu Yasuda at the Departments of Pharmacology and Cardiovascular Medicine of Hokkaido University School of Medicine, respectively. Professor Minami later served as a postdoctoral research fellow in cardiovascular pharmacology under the auspices of Professor Benedict Lucchesi at the University of Michigan Medical School.
