That ChAT mRNA is translated to a corresponding protein was confirmed by Western blot analysis of MOLT-3 cells (Fig. IB) (Fujii etal, 1995a). This was the first demonstration of ChAT protein expression in a human T-cell line. Furthermore, the involvement of lymphoid ChAT in the synthesis of ACh was confirmed by the finding that bromoacetylcholine, a specific ChAT inhibitor, significantly diminished the ACh content of T-lymphocytes (Fujii et al, 1996b).
