ABSTRACT
Brick manufacturing in many Asian countries is predominantly a cottage industry using traditional kilns, which are energy inefƒcient and highly polluting (Gomes and Hossain, 2003). The brick industry in developing countries grows rapidly thanks to the increasing demand from intensive construction activities (Regional Energy Resources Information Center [RERIC], 2003).
