ABSTRACT

Recently there has been a surge of interest in medications and medication labels. Like pharmacists, most patients have to deal with medication (drug) labels on a daily basis. Health care systems worldwide are increasingly recognizing the need for a patient centered labeling system. But then, why are drug labels important to patients? Gerontological projections suggest a rapid increase in the number of old people such that a significant part of the patient population would be made of older adults. This research would explore the different studies conducted on the comprehension of drug labels. It would also analyze the problems, difficulties and errors of the elderly group in consumption of medicine, and if there is a need to change current drug labels for older patients.
