ABSTRACT
The aim of the study was to define and use the quantitative index of ergonomic quality in management of WMSD symptoms and their causes resulting from occupational work. Questionnaires were distributed in four organizations in which were leading sampling survey: food production company, transportation company, supermarket, assembly company. Authors present an integrated index of ergonomic quality - ErgQS (Ergonomic Quality Score). This index may also be interpreted as the index of ergonomic quality of working conditions or else as an index of ergonomic quality of a work performance determined by these conditions. ErgQS was defined/ calculated based on the information about: WMSD symptoms, socio- economic consequences of WMSD symptoms and ergonomic risk factors.
The use of the index for assessment of work condition within one enterprise (in several departments) shows the experts the direction of particular interest, where correction activities should be undertaken in the technical, organizational and training aspect.
