Over the last two decades much attention has been directed to the notion of work process and its changes. New forms of employment and work, which have aroused those days, result from the introduction of changes in the method of people employment. The traditional form of employment based on full-time work is replaced with part-time jobs. Performance of such work determines a fast development of self-employment. This paper draws on data and case studies collected mainly among Polish enterprises. The paper examines the role of small enterprises and its role in economy. Furthermore, it presents different aspects of work safety. Finally, the contribution tries to answer the question on how new work practices influence enterprises’ performance.
