ABSTRACT

Many issues of supporting elderly living urgently need rethinking from the perspective of overall service systems including technological systems, human roles of care giving, infrastructure, and business models. Service system plays a major role for integrating components and subsystems for achieving better human-qualities of overall service performance. This research proposes the concept and architecture of Ambient Interactive Systems (AIS) that provides general platform for deploying various services for creating desirable senior living experience for individual life styles in different living environments such as independent living, assisted living and hospital environments. AIS intends to integrate physical space and cyber space in order to enhance synchronizations of overall activities performed by the system constituents in the space for enhancing the quality of work and life.
