ABSTRACT
The ergonomic design of work systems improves effectiveness and efficiency of the system by a well-balanced workload. Ergonomic design processes require scientific findings with the know-how of the affected persons must be tied together suitably. Heterogeneous backgrounds of experience and knowledge in such an expert team allow coping with complexity by a comprehensive reflection. However, there is a risk that communication and coordination barriers throw up and prevent collaborative work. Therefore in this study, a workshop concept for optimizing the collaboration work of heterogeneous expert teams in design processes is developed and evaluated. The workshop concept is developed through a concept-based approach. It was exemplary conducted for two complex design tasks and tested thorough a satisfaction survey. First results show that the workshop concept called “Fabrica Medica ®” allows a straight and subject oriented solution finding while considering clinical expertise and relevant stakeholder. The used methods and instruments contribute to the success of the collaborative work process within the heterogeneous expert team. At a scale from 1 (“very good”) to 5 (“poor”) 90% of the participants valued the workshops with 1(“very good”) to 2 (“good”).
