ABSTRACT
Usability engineering is a powerful process to increase the efficiency of a company and to ensure the success of the business. A professional usability engineering process during product development will be beneficial for the company as well as for the customers. In addition usability engineering is demanded by regulation authorities. For QIAGEN the business aspect as well as the regulatory requirement was the major trigger to establish usability engineering. Time to market, cost and limited resources are obstacle for implementation of new methods. An efficient connection to existing processes and strong support from upper management are important for a successful implementation.
