ABSTRACT

The present paper examines the correlation between driver's behavior and accident involvement. Driver's behavior is being described by measurable driving parameters, which are acquired by the recording of the driving pattern of a sample of drivers while running through specific road sections. After the field tests, each driver fills out a questionnaire regarding driving experience and traffic accident involvement. The outcome of the data processing is the formation of two types of parameters, driving parameters and accident parameters. The correlation of these types of parameters is being examined with the use of Pearson Correlation Coefficient. Finally, it is suggested that the driving parameters with the higher coefficient value could be the strongest traffic accident predictors.
