ABSTRACT
The earthen wall is consisted of the clay taken near Kyoto prefecture. It takes long time to paint up the earthen wall for having the higher mechanical properties. The earthen wall is laminated the clay for many times. The process of painting is complex. The earthen wall has much kind of functions, for example there are the adjustment of the temperature and humidity, deodorize effect, fireproof and aromatherapy effect. The Kyoto style earthen wall has small hole. The moisture of the atmosphere enters into the small hole.
In this study, difference of both method and frequency of the painting between the expert and non-expert was analyzed. Correlation of the amount of used soil according to career of the painting was compared.
