ABSTRACT

The concept of “MA” is emphasized in terms of time and space among lifestyle such as human relations and etiquette, sports, arts, and architecture; however, the concept of “MA” that is studied scientifically is not found. In this study, we defined “MA” as time span in aspect of acceleration, and defined two types of “MA”: intermittent “MA” and continuous “MA”. It was hypothesized that there exists “MA” during experts’ working, and investigated it from scientific standpoint of motion analysis. This study conducted motion analysis especially of wire net knitting, and “MA” emerging during the work operation was analyzed. A wire net product, called “kana-ami” in Japanese, is a traditional craftsmanship in Kyoto all made by the hand work. “kana-ami” making process is divided into the main task and the secondary task. “MA” emerging in continuous motion and in intermittent motion was compared. As a result, it was clarified that intermittent 179“MA” was proper to observe when “MA” emerged in the main task. On the other hand, continuous “MA” was suitable for comparing the main task and secondary task, and for observing “MA”-emerging time in whole work.
