ABSTRACT

A person introduced in a new manual assembly task has to acquire and to train the necessary skills for performing the task. These skills are usually sensorimotor skills and have to be trained at least until reaching a reference time within the task has to be accomplished. The period of time needed for this training is called learning time and could not be forecasted economically and validly until now. Due to this a new method for forecasting the learning time has been developed. It is based on empirical studies (138 participants) and reaches a high explanation of variance. The paper contains a detailed description of the new method and its development as well as a discussion and a further course of action. Additionally a new method for determining the complexity of sensorimotor tasks is presented.
