ABSTRACT

Affect has come into the spotlight because customers have come to pay more attention to product design. This research has developed an affective satisfaction model to verify affect elements and to determine the importance of each of the elements. Participants in an evaluation experiment rated their affective satisfaction using a 0–100 scale (0 = least satisfied; 100 = most satisfied) with respect to the appearance of their smartphones and their three most frequently used applications. Six affect elements related to smartphone appearance and 11 aspects of smartphone applications were evaluated. The data from the experiment were analyzed using the multiple regression method. The affective satisfaction model developed in this study can provide background information for the future development of smartphones and applications
