ABSTRACT

Environmental issues are increasingly important due to rapid development of products, and shortage of the landfill spaces. Thus, there is a strong demand for developing the evaluation system that can provide a quick estimation of EOL products. This paper presents an integrated evaluation system which considers the EOL assessments at both product and part levels. This paper serves two objectives. The first objective is to evaluate the product end -of-life (EOL) by integrating an analytical hierarchy process (AHP) with case-based reasoning (CBR). The second objective is to evaluate EOL of parts and components. The integration of an economic, environmental, and disassembly costs model is employed to determine the EOL of parts and components. An example is presented and discussed. The predicted results of the complete method are compared with those of the previous study. The results showed that the integration of the AHP–CBR method has reached a good correspondence with the established methods.
