Foams are microcellular structures, produced by gas bubbles formed during the polyurethane polymerization mixture. The process of bubble formation in polyurethane foams is called blowing. The blowing reaction is one of the several reactions occurring in the Žnal polyurethane mixture while it is foaming. The chemical ingredient in the formulation that provides the gas is called the blowing agent. Low-boiling liquids added to physically assist in the foaming process are called auxiliary blowing agents.
