ABSTRACT
Hydrophilic polyurethanes comprise a specialized group of materials characterized by their compatibility with water. Hydrophilic literally means “water loving.” Hydrophilic polyurethanes are usually charged or have polar side groups, such as oxygen and nitrogen, in their structure that will attract and retain water (primarily through hydrogen bonding, although there is also a small amount of chemisorbed water).
