ABSTRACT

The principal role of the occupational therapist in the life of an individual with a disability is to serve as an impartial facilitator, focusing on the potential functional abilities that he or she may be capable of performing with modifications as needed. When participating in the life care planning process, as whenever an evaluation is conducted, the occupational therapist assesses the person as a whole entity, with occupational performance areas ranging from activities of daily living to work activities and play or leisure skills.
