ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to provide an analytical framework and a case study for those considering civil-military relations as it has progressed over 350 years from the treaty of Westphalia in 1648 to its 350th anniversary in 1998 on the European continent and for those nations/nation-states which adhere to European ideas.
