ABSTRACT

The image of women changes considerably in different stages of her life, from childhood to maturity (Leonard, R. 2008), so her chest also undergoes changes that drive women to seek proper lingerie. In order to reach an ergonomic adjustment of the body to the bra it’s necessary to understand if the stages of women’s lives are connected with those of her chest. In addition there are several types of bras, suitable for every situation that may change the visual appearance of the breast and the appearance of clothing, due to its technical characteristics.

Ergonomics in a bra is felt by the user in a very intimate way due to the direct result on her body. If a woman repeatedly the wrong size bra, there will be repercussions on her body. In terms of clothing, ergonomics is intrinsically linked with the comfort or the lack of it, and due to the development of the bra, also the female body has changed according to fashion’s demands. Today, a good bra is associated to what can be trasmitted as a good ergonomic comfort and this is the fundamental premise for the welfare of the women’s chest.
