ABSTRACT

A survey conducted by the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), Government of Bangladesh, (Bangladesh Geological survey Report 1999-2000) and Danish IDA (DANIDA) found 90% hand tube wells of Noakhali municipality containing arsenic more than the Bangladesh standard. A government report states that 62 out of 64 districts of Bangladesh are contaminated with toxic arsenic, 40% of the tube wells exceeding 50 μg/L standards (DGHS Survey 2010).
