ABSTRACT

Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide. In 2007, 7.9 million people died due to cancer (13% of total deaths): 1.4 millions of lung cancer; 866,000 of stomach cancer; 653,000 of liver cancer; 677,000 of colon and 548,999 of breast cancer. An estimation for 2030 is that 12 million people will die because of this cause. The most common organs affected by cancer in men are lung, stomach, liver, colon, esophagus and prostate, the latter being more frequent in men around 50 years old. Prevalence is increasing, mainly due to enviromental agents and the way of life (WHS 2008).
