ABSTRACT

Soil is a main component of the environment and the base of human activities such as agriculture, construction, and so forth. A soil can be described as an open, multicomponent chemical system that contains solid, liquid, and gaseous phases in«uenced by living organisms (Thornton 1983). Soils can be contaminated with heavy metals derived from various arti’cial sources (Adriano 1986).
