ABSTRACT
Both glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids require 11β-hydroxylation for full activity. Disorders of 11β-hydroxylation in the adrenal cortex affect the biosynthesis of these hormones and thus have significant physiological effects. The genetics of enzymes required for steroid 11β-hydroxylase are reviewed in this chapter.
