ABSTRACT
Previous parts of this book treated the environment as a control on human settlement and activity (Pt II) or as a passive resource for human exploitation (Pt III). They largely ignored the changes to the environment that human activity causes. The next four chapters deal with these human impacts, concentrating on those in which geological processes or resources play some part.
