ABSTRACT
The database is called the TIGER File, which, along with maintenance and applications software, form the TIGER System. The bibliography at the end of this paper lists several
documents that explain more fully the need for the TIGER System, its intended uses, the cooperative program between the Bureau of the Census and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), and the mathematical underpinnings of the database.
