ABSTRACT
Motivation for this preliminary research report comes from three sources, namely (1) joint work that is in progress with Amrhein (Amrhein and Griffith, 1987) concerning quality control issues associated with GISs, (2) recent discussions with Hodgson (1988) concerning the sensitivity of solutions for the p-median problem with respect to different sources of error, and (3) a personal concern with the expansion of analytical capabilities that is being undertaken by architects of current GISs.
