ABSTRACT
Parents face difficult and complex decisions in caring for their children. They work hard to keep their children healthy and happy, and to care for them when they are ill. Most people have an idea of what it is to be ‘a good mother’ (for it is women who remain the main carers of their children despite changes in the social structure) and most mothers strive to achieve this ideal.
