ABSTRACT

Without much notice, society has become accustomed to the daily research reports that show up through all types of media and distri bution channels. Information is more prevalent and accessible than ever; therefore, the new challenge is not nding information but sorting through it and extracting what is usable. Research produced by academic, governmental, and industrial institutions is used for a plethora of purposes. Report after report is paraded out and communicated to a wide audience with varying degrees of effectiveness. Usually, the reports have

some signicant point or nding that has wide-ranging implications for society or can be an incremental addition or correction to existing scientic knowledge. No matter the depth or complexity of the research, its outcomes have impact only if they are communicated in clear, concise messages. Clarity and conciseness should be the researchers’ goal when communicating study outcomes to maximize impact. The delivery of a clear, concise message that accurately describes signicant points to the appropriate audience is a goal of research reporting.
