ABSTRACT
The growth of titles and certifications in the United States has mushroomed in the last decade. The number of titles available for various professional fields has more than doubled since 1990. There may be a rush to have letters following one’s name. For some, the more letters, the better. For some the more letters there are, the more credibility they believe they have with peers, employers, customers, clients and governments.
