ABSTRACT
The rapid development of computer packages in recent years has transformed the highway and junction design process. No longer do large numbers of repetitive calculations have to be laboriously carried out by hand, instead increasingly powerful and compact computers, together with increasingly sophisticated software packages, which now include computer graphics, make it possible to investigate a greater number of design options, and to undertake the necessary design calculations more reliably and in a much shorter period of time.
