ABSTRACT

Background Fruit-set and growth of several horticultural plants are negatively aected by adverse environmental conditions. In general, sub and/or supra-optimal temperatures negatively aect reproductive processes and therefore curtail fruit production [1,2]. Under greenhouse cultivation, low temperature, insucient light intensity, and/or high humidity drastically reduce fruit productivity and quality in eggplant and other species. Moreover, environmental conditions often met in open eld cultivation such as drought and high temperatures have a negative eect on fruit productivity and quality in eggplant and other species (e.g. tomato).
