ABSTRACT
Everyone has experienced the effect of heat transfer by thermal radiation; for example, the warmth of sunshine or the heat one feels when standing next to a campfire. Unlike conduction or convection, heat transfer by ther mal radiation does not require a medium to transfer heat. Thermal radiation is transferred through space by electromagnetic wave phenomena that travel at the speed of light (see Chapter 7).
